This area of the site relates to issues and events concerning Beginner members of Boyle Camera Club.

Beginners Group will meet on Saturday 8th October at 10.30am in St. Joseph's Resource Centre, Boyle. Meave has kindly offered to bring along some theatrical costumes for a natural light portraiture photo shoot. Members are advised to bring a tripod if they have access to one. This session will be led by Tony and is open to all club members should they wish to attend.

Beginners are asked to bring in a sample of some of their printed photographs for discussion at the next Group Session which will take place at our JULY meeting. One or Two photos only. Tony Murphy will give an informal critique of some of the presented images.

Resize and title your photos for Motivation submission using Picasa.

This video may be helpful to new members wishing to send in photos for the monthly Motivation. Using Google's free image management and editing programme, Picasa, the video goes through the process of resizing photos and changing the title of your photo for email submission.

At this month's club meeting, beginner members identified a number of areas they wished to engage with over the course of the year. Facilitated by Paraic Brennan, these are the main areas that were discussed;

• Camera Adjustments – getting away from Auto.
• Getting the most out of a compact.

Suggestions for photo shoots;

• Beginners to have a Leader (from Advanced or Intermediate) to advise on what settings to use for the first half hour of any photoshoot.
• Half day photoshoots for most shoots. Don’t travel too far for photoshoots. Keep to time.
• Birr Castle.
• Indoor.
• Sligo races/ beach races.
• Inismurray Island, Sligo.
• Castle Forbes – Walt Disney type castle.

• Critique Area on Flickr site re: Composition etc .
• Blog section- contact area for arranging “minority” photoshoots where 2 or more want to meet for a shoot or for members to arrange a shoot in a particular place.
• Camera club Facebook site.
