Club Meeting - Wednesday 11th February

The main feature of the club's February meeting was a presentation from the renowned photographer Mike Bunn. Mike was one of the first photographers to present to Boyle Camera Club when it was founded back in October 2007. Mike showed some of his photos from a shoot in Marrakesh and a fashion shoot in connemara. He also adjudicated and commented on members submissions for the month's Motivation.

Minutes from the meeting, prepared by Dermot, can be seen HERE.

The next club meeting will be held on Wednesday 11th March at 8pm in the Moving Stairs, Boyle. The agenda will include a presentation by Tony Murphy on the subject of camera Aperture and Peter Boalch will present a selection of his photos and discuss how he approaches his work.

DUBLIN ONE DAY WORKSHOP - MARCH 14th

For the first time we are pleased to announce a one day Dublin workshop. The day will be split between on location shooting, practical 'in the camera' development and post processing of imagery from raw capture. To this end the afternoon will be spent editing previously taken images as well as work from our morning shoot in Photoshop. This new one day event will be an intense day of learning and will be suited to both beginners and more advanced photographers. As numbers are limited to just four participants there will be plenty of time for one on one attention.

Eagles Flying - Photoshoot - 8th February 2009

BCC Eagles Flying Photo Shoot - 8th February 2009
Boyle Camera Club members at Eagles Flying in Ballymote.

It's on ... it's OFF ... it's ON again!
Residence of Boyle awoke this morning to the first decent bit of snow in ages. It was met with mixed emotions by organisers of this month's club photo-shoot. Initially, a message was sent via text to all members to say the shoot was cancelled. Negotiations continued among committee members and it was decided to proceed with the event and so the second message circulated. In the end, 13 members came to The Crescent in Boyle and we promptly headed to EAGLES FLYING in Ballymote, Co. Sligo.

Members were given the opportunity to photograph rare and exotic birds at this premier raptor sanctuary. Our stay was very professionally facilitated and we were able to get up close and personal with all manner of falcons, hawks and eagles ... oh yes, and there was the odd sow and ram there too! Excellent day out and fun had by all.

NEW STRUCTURE TO CLUB MEETINGS

Attention ALL Club Members.

In light of the club’s development and expanding membership, the committee feel that a more structured approach to meetings be adopted so that ALL members equally, will have an opportunity to look, listen and learn but also to engage and contribute at meetings. After some deliberation at recent Committee meetings as to how this might be done, we have drafted a NEW STRUCTURE which will be adopted from our February meeting 2009. Members will be given the opportunity to comment on the new structure after the meeting and make suggestions should they feel the need for further review.

The committee also, propose to restructure the following areas of club activity;

Photo Shoots – A schedule of monthly Photoshoots to be prepared 6 months in advance.
WorkshopsMembers can avail of workshops dealing with basic image editing and setting up a personal on-line gallery for their work (Flickr, etc)
CompetitionsThe club propose to set Thematic Competitions for members every two months. This will replace the current Motivation League. From February, the Motivation League will no longer be credited via voting. Images will be submitted monthly as usual and slideshows will be presented at meetings, however, this will inform a debate and analysis of submissions based on members interpretation of the monthly theme and photographic technique.
