AGM Tuesday 13th October 2009

Louise Cole - Bubbled

Boyle Camera Club will hold it's Annual General Meeting on; Tuesday, 13th October at 8pm in the Royal Hotel, Boyle. All members are encouraged to attend this important event.

There are a number of committee members stepping down this year and we hope to fill these posts via nominations and elections at the meeting. Members interested in putting themselves forward for a position on the committee should notify the club secretary, Dermot Devine, before the meeting begins. The vacant posts are; Chairperson and Competitions Secretary, currently held by Sean O'Dowd and Conor Dowling respectively. The post of Technical Adviser, currently held by Tony Murphy, will also be vacated and a decision whether this post will be filled shall be decided at the first meeting of the new committee. Nominations and election procedures will be discussed on the night.

The Agenda for the AGM is as follows;
  • Welcome Address from the Chairperson
  • Officers Reports - Committee members will give a brief account of their duties over the past year
  • Election of New Committee
  • Break for Food and Refreshments
  • Slideshow - A collection of images representing the work done by members during the past year
  • Group Discussion
The meeting will conclude at approximately 9.30pm.

Club Photo Shoot - 18th October

The next club Photo Shoot will take place on Sunday 18th October. Club members will convene at 9am on the Crescent in Boyle and we will travel to Yeats Country in Co. Sligo. The shoot will include stops at Drumcliff and Lisadell.

Autumn Competition - 31st October

Submissions for the Autumn Competition should be submitted before Saturday 31st October. The theme of Autumn can be freely interpreted and consist of any subject matter that bares reference to this time of year. Submissions to info@boylecameraclub.com 

Creative Lighting - 3rd November
Sean O'Dowd - Gaelic Cheiftain

The Motivation exercise for October/November is Creative Lighting. Details will be discussed at the next meeting. Submission of images for the Motivation by 3rd November.

Meeting 8th September 2009

NEW meeting venue - The Royal Hotel

A very special thank you to Royal Hotel proprietor, Sean Simon, for the warm, welcoming and generous hospitality shown to members attending our first meeting at this new venue. The function room at the Royal is a warm and spacious venue and comfortably accommodated all attending members. Especially welcome was the complimentary glass of wine we received which effectively relaxed the nerves and made the meeting all the more enjoyable. Thank you Sean.

Summertime Photo Competition

We are very grateful to photographer, David Knight, who judged the competition and his astute critiqued on selected entries. David's transcript was read at the meeting and supported by comments and discussion by members.

Eunan Sweeney - Landscape Photographer

We are very grateful to photographer, Eunan Sweeney, who came and presented a very fine talk about his work. Eunan, a native of Ballinamore, shared a collection of his images with the group and spoke of the trials and tribulations of being a Landscape Photographer; from working in the field to tips on selling image as a business. A thoroughly informative and enjoyable presentation. Thank you Eunan.

Tony Murphy - Reciprocity

On a more technical note, Tony Murphy attempted to demystify the term Reciprocity and discussed strategies for dealing with exposure adjustment by balancing Shutter-Speed, Aperture and ISO. This was Part 1. of a two part presentation on this subject. Part 2. of 'Reciprocity' will be presented later in the year.
