Summary of our April club meeting

Last nights meeting was an educational meeting, we learnt about upcoming projects and all things concerning members. As our speaker was unable to attend the meeting due to personal reasons out of our control, we hope to have her and welcome her as speaker in future meetings especially our May meeting where there is a strong possibility, (stay tuned for updates).

Things we learnt on the night:

Boyle Arts Festival Exhibition

Exciting News! We have a venue for our clubs Boyle Arts Festival Exhibition (stay tuned for updates) What we do know is the festival will run from July 16th - 25th

In the meantime, Members are encouraged to prepare for our annual Boyle Arts Festival Exhibition. We request that each member submit four high-quality images for consideration. One of these images will be selected for printing and inclusion in the exhibit. Submissions should preferably be made no later than the club’s May meeting.

Our motivational secretary will distribute a Dropbox link in the next 48hrs VIA our WhatsApp group, for you to upload your digital submissions. Alternatively, members may bring their images to any meeting before or during the May meeting for upload via the club laptop.

The four images submitted must include:

One black and white photograph

One portrait format photograph

One landscape format photograph

One Image of the member’s preference

Images to be printed at 16" X 12" and mounted.

Before submitting your images please resize your 4 images to suit.

Annual Weekend Away: Bellmullet, County Mayo

Our yearly photography weekend trip to Bellmullet, County Mayo, is scheduled from June 26th to June 28th. Members planning to attend this friendly photography getaway are advised to book accommodation near the center of Bellmullet town as early as possible, as lodging may become fully booked if left too late. A range of activities will be planned for the weekend.

Upcoming Motivations, Outings, and Guest Speakers

Discussions also covered where months before members expressed significant interest, particularly requesting a Photoshop workshop and this led to a couple of members bringing PS learning magazines/books to the meeting for those wanting to learn Photoshop and its technics. This may lead to members learning to use the software in their own environment at their own pace.

The night concluded with a solution to placing our Images during future exhibitions.

Work is ongoing to resolve the issue and will be up and ready in time for our summer exhibit.

Summary of our February club meeting

Tonight, we welcomed wildlife and landscape photographer Shane Coyle from County Galway to our February meeting as our first guest speaker of 2026.

Shane’s talk covered all aspects of getting outdoors, facing nature head-on, and enjoying Irish wildlife and all it has to offer. His hour-long presentation stretched beyond its allotted time, but although time was running out, nobody was in a hurry to end the session. He also answered questions, which will surely inspire our motivation for the months ahead.

It was great to meet Shane and hear his presentation, and we wish him every success in whatever the next chapter brings.

We also learned that we are preparing for a club exhibition in Ballina, Co. Mayo in the coming months, so please stay tuned for updates.

Last but not least, our weekend away this year will be a trip to Bellmullet, Co. Mayo 26th-28th June. Any members wishing to join us on this group trip will need to book their accommodation in advance over the coming months—more information to follow!

With that said, we are looking forward to an eventful year ahead, including taking part in our annual Boyle Arts Festival exhibition in the summer of 2026.
