Motivation August 2008 - Close-up & Macro Photography
At this months meeting, Tony Murphy gave a presentation on 'Close-up and Macro Photography with a Digital Compact Camera' - this will be the Motivational Theme for July.
Digital Compact cameras can have a big advantage over Digital SLR camera when it comes to Macro photography (SLR cameras usually need a special lens or lens adapter to perform macro functions). The quality of the lens, in even a basic compact camera, can enable the photographer to get extremely close to the subject - how close will depend on the make and model of camera, some are simply more capable in macro mode than others.
There are a few simple tips to help photographers outlined in the attached supplement HERE. Members are asked to submit no more than THREE images for the Motivation League on or before Friday 8th August 2008.

June Field Trip - Knocknarea and Strandhill, Co. Sligo
Boyle Camera Club Members at Knocknarea.
Following the Club Meeting on 11th June, 18 members participated in a club Field Trip to Knocknarea and Strandhill in Co. Sligo. The weather was glorious (for the most part) and light conditions excellent. Members departed from Boyle via minibus and spent the morning discussing and debating photographic issues - and taking the odd photo too. The morning ended with coffee in Strandhill before heading home.
Club Field Trips are an very important club event, which to date, have occurred monthly. They provide members with an opportunity, not only to visit and photograph the beautiful areas in our locality and beyond, but also a chance to make friends and have fun. There is much to learn for both novice and experienced photographers. The sharing and imparting of knowledge and skills is very much part of these occasions.
Photos from the club's June field trip can be seen HERE on the club 'Flickr' site.
