Fourteen members took part in the club's October photo shoot at Belvedere House and Gardens, Mullingar. The location was chosen to take advantage of the beautiful autumn colours of the 160 acre estate on the shores of Lough Ennell. The Victorian Walled Garden, still full of flowers, was an ideal opportunity for members to test their macro photography skills. The House itself, a restored Georgian Villa dating to 1740, has a number of reception rooms, completely restored with authentic furniture and ideal for those interested in architectural shots and practising low light techniques. The grounds, with their winding paths and borders, were also a chance to capture entries for this month's motivation - "Lines". The blue skies and warm temperatures helped to make this a great day out.

Photo Shoot - Belvedere House, Mullingar
This month's Photo Shoot will take place on Sunday 21st October at Belvedere House, Mullingar. Club members should meet on the Crescent in Boyle at 8.30am for car pool. I believe the weather will be very pleasant so the Autumn colours should be glowing! Google estimates the journey to be about 1 hour and 45 mins but I think it should not take more than 1 hour and 20 minutes on a Sunday. Dress warm, it's cold these morning's.
AGM Tuesday 9th October 2012
The meeting was opened by outgoing Chairperson, Kit O'Connor. This was followed by the officers reports from the outgoing committee.

Michael Gannon gave an illustrated presentation on his photography. Michael asked each photographer to pose the question to themselves; “Why am I taking this photo?” If you can’t give a good reason to take the shot then you should walk away. Michael’s own style is as deliberate as it is artistic. His subject matter ranges from old glass bottles, toys, dereliction, disused petrol pumps, to publicity photos for his sons band “Traitor.” Michael showed us a slideshow which included two of his projects - one of the decommissioned Bellacorick Power station near Belmullet and of his series on Flowers on the Doorsteps (May Morning) where he travelled through Mayo photographing the tradition of leaving flowers on the doorsteps on the first of May.
