Club Meeting - Tuesday 12th March

Apologies for this belated post regarding our March meeting.
Chairperson, Andy Rimmer, opened the meeting and discussed a number of important events that will take place in the months ahead;
  • During March, Boyle Camera Club members exhibited photos at Lough Key Forest Park (St. Patrick's Weekend 16th - 18th March) and Coffey's Coffee Shop, Carrick-on-Shannon (25th March - 27th April).
  • Confirmed! The annual weekend away club photo shoot takes place during the May Bank Holiday Weekend on Inis Mór, between Friday 3rd and Sunday 5th May. Participating members, by now should have payed the required €35 deposit to reserve accommodation.
  • This month's club photo shoot took place on Sunday 24th March at St. Joseph's Resource Centre with Brian Munnelly giving a workshop on how to photograph water droplets.
Presentation
After facilitating two workshops during the weekend specially for Boyle Camera Club members, Cork-based photographer, Rohan Reilly gave a presentation about his work. Of his work, Rohan says; "I aim to find smooth compositions, clean lines, and strong shapes. I use long exposures in my work to draw out the essential elements of a scene, creating a perspective and mood for the viewer that is unique and compelling. I work in black and white, which is the first step away from reality and into the calm, serene and silent atmosphere I aim to create." Although the weather was a little inhibiting for long-exposure work during Rohan's visit, members really enjoyed the experience. Our sincere gratitute Rohan.

Strokestown House Photo Shoot

Photo Shoot Strokestown House 24th Feb 2013 TMP_4007.jpg
A very enjoyable day was had at Strokestown House and Gardens on Sunday 24th February. Our sincere gratitude to Jackie who facilitated our visit and guided us through the house giving us free reign to photograph every aspect of the interior. Strokestown House is certainly one of the jewels in Roscommon's heritage crown and will feature in a series of programmes about 'The Big House' on TV3 shortly.
