Boyle Camera Club AGM - 13th October

Election of New Committee
Boyle Camera Club's AGM took place recently at St. Joseph's Resource Centre Boyle.
The initial part of the meeting was concerned with the election of the new committee. Those committee members standing-down this year, Kit O'Connor, Mary Lane and Marion Noone were thanked for their contribution. Deserving of much credit and praise, Andy Rimmer, who very diligently served as chairperson for the past three years has also retired.

The new elected committee is as follows;
Club Chairperson - John Walshe
Treasurer - Brian Munnelly
Secretary - Margaret Dolan
Officers - Hugh Rooney, Deirdre Ryan, Margaret Mulligan, Andy Rimmer, Joe Kennedy and Tony Murphy.

The Motivation theme for October was “Film Titles” and was judged by Peter Kelly.
Beginners. 1st “Blue Brothers” by Margaret Mulligan 2nd “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” by Margaret Mulligan 3rd “The House on the Hill” by Deirdre Ryan.

This month’s Motivation was presented by Joe Kennedy and judged by Peter Kelly. The winners in each category are as follows;

Advanced

1. Matthew Gammon - 'Birdman'

3. Andy Rimmer - 'Around The World in 80-Days'

Intermediate

1. Tommy Guihan - 'Clockwork Orange'
2. Sally Moffatt - 'The Lion King'

Beginner

1. Margaret Mulligan - 'The Blues Brothers'
2. Margaret Mulligan - 'The Good the Bad and the Ugly'

The November Motivation Theme is 'Photo Journalism'.
Only images taken AFTER 1st of October 2014 are eligible for Motivation entry!
Members can submit up to FOUR images.

A reminder also that the title of each photo should be;

"MEMBERS NAME - CATEGORY (Beg, Int, Adv), IMAGE TITLE and MEMBERSHIP NUMBER" e.g. “John Fox - Beg – Autumn Evening Reflection – 104.jpg”

Entries should be re-sized so that a landscape format photo is 1024 pixels wide or if in portrait format the photo is 600 pixels high.

Main Presentation - Brian Farrell

After the tea break, the guest speaker, Brian Farrell, gave a most entertaining and educational presentation about his work as a free-lance photographer and showed examples of his published works. He stressed that "good photos can be taken on our own doorsteps and that if a person can’t take good pictures in their own environment, they won’t be able to take them anywhere else."
