Photo Shoot - Lough Talt, Co. Sligo

BCC members at Lough Talt
Boyle Camera Club at Lough Talt, Co. Sligo.
18 members of Boyle Camera Club braved the wind and rain today during a photo shoot that took them to Lough Talt and the Ox Mountains in Co. Sligo, Pontoon on the banks of Lough Conn and finishing at the Foxford Woollen Mills, Co. Mayo. Spirits were high despite the bad weather. The monthly photo shoots are as much about getting out in the fresh air, seeing some of the beautiful countryside on our door step, making friends and having fun as they are about taking photos. The Sligo/Mayo landscape is some of the most picturesque in Ireland, great in any weather (as long as you're prepared for it!), this area is definitely worthy of a revisit when the sky is a little brighter.
The Club would like to extend our gratitude to the Staff at Foxford Woollen Mills, for allowing members photograph the premises.

Members are reminded to submit photos from the shoot which will be viewable HERE.

Reminder; Wednesday 1st April is the submission date for this month's MOTIVATION. The theme is 'People At Work'.

Next Club Meeting; 8pm Wednesday 8th April, Moving Stairs, Boyle.

Camera Club Meeting - 11th March 2009

Galway School Bus Fire - Peter Boalch

This month's club meeting began with a presentation on Aperture. Tony Murphy explained the meaning of aperture and related terminology such as focal length, f-stop and depth-of-field. He also showed how controlling aperture can effect depth-of-field in the photographic image and how this applies to both SLR and digital compact camera users.

Conor Dowling presented this month's Motivation Exercise which included a critique of a selection of members submissions. Here the photographer and the floor are given the opportunity to discuss and comment on the photos. Conor also highlighted a number of competitions that will take place during March and April.

Next month's Motivation Exercise is 'People at Work', entries should be submitted to info@boylecameraclub.com before Wednesday 1st April. Members should ensure that they include their NAME and image TITLE in the File Name of the submission.

Christopher O'Connor informed the meeting that a photographic weekend is to be arranged during June to Achill Island in Co. Mayo. Members should inform Christopher of their intentions to participate at the next club meeting so that accommodation can be booked. It is likely that the event will take place after the June bank-holiday weekend.

Peter Boalch brought the meeting to a conclusion and presented a selection of his most recent photographic work. Peter has experimented with many photographic techniques this past year and was happy to share his ideas and experiences with members.

Club members will meet for the next Photo Shoot on The Crescent, Boyle at 8.30am Sunday 29th March. The shoot will proceed to Pontoon and Lough Conn and the Foxford Woolen Mills, Co. Mayo via Lough Talt in Co. Sligo.
