This weekend (Saturday 9th November), the Irish Photographic Federation are running their National Shield event at Malahide Community School in Dublin. The National Shield is an inter-club competition for all members of camera clubs who are deemed to be intermediate photographers. This year, for the first time and on rather short notice, the committee decided to enter Boyle Camera Club in the competition. Because of the very limited time available, in great haste the committee selected photos from the club Flickr stream and approached the individual photographers to participate. As a club, we are required to submit a panel of eight colour and eight monochrome mounted prints. The panels have now been assembled, printed and mounted and are presently en route to Malahide where they will be displayed on Saturday morning with work from other camera clubs across the country.
Boyle Camera Club have been affiliated to the IPF since it's founding in 2007 but we have not often participated in IPF competitive events. As our membership grows and matures, we hope to be more active regarding our engagement with the IPF and will be encouraging members to consider developing work for the IPF Distinctions in the near future.

In the meantime, we wish participating members every success this weekend in Malahide. We will post details regarding the club's panel submission here after the event.
