A fantastic and proud achievement for Boyle Camera Club on winning the Irish Photographic Federation NATIONAL SHIELD! Well done to participating members.
Boyle Camera Club was awarded FIRST PLACE in the the Irish Photographic Federation's prestigious National Shield Competition on the 9th of November in Malahide, Co. Dublin. The Club submitted two panels of photographs (above) - one in colour and one in black & white. Competition was extremely keen with twenty six camera clubs from across the country taking part.
This was the Boyle Camera Club's first time to take part in a national competition and in addition to winning the overall National Shield, the club was awarded FIRST place for the best black & white panel and a €250 voucher from Sheldon Photographic, sponsors of the competition.
Individual awards for club photographers went to Geoffrey Percy, Matthew Gammon and Peter Kelly, who received the Bronze Medal for his black and white photograph.
Boyle Camera Club, which recently celebrated its 6th anniversary, continues to go from strength to strength. The Club provides an opportunity for members to expand their knowledge of photography and develop their skills with like-minded enthusiasts. It caters for all levels - beginners, intermediate and advanced members and holds presentations, photo shoots, field trips and exhibitions.
The Club meets on the second Tuesday of every month at 8pm in St. Joseph's Resource Centre (behind St. Joseph's RC Church) and new members are always welcome!
The winning colour and black and white panels were prepared and printed by club members Tony Murphy and Conor Dowling.
