Update on 17/12/25 rescheduled Meeting

At last nights Boyle Camera Club's Christmas Party, we had the pleasure in presenting a €500 cheque to Niamh O'Connor, representing the  Brothers of Charity, Boyle.
The money was raised by Boyle Camera Club members through their annual exhibition at Boyle Arts Festival. 39 photographic prints were sold at the very successful exhibition, which was held in the wonderful surrounds of the newly refurbished 'An Ríoga'.

Boyle Camera Club members meet on the second Tuesday of every month in Boyle Resource Center, to discuss and learn all things photographic. From mobile phone photography to DSLRs, they have an open door policy and welcome all who wish to learn more, take more photos and be part of a club.

The members were delighted to be able to raise funds for the Brothers of Charity in Boyle. The charity focuses on helping individuals  with intellectual difficulties, so they can achieve personal life goals and become valued and equal members of society. The Boyle Brothers of Charity group also has a very active Camera Club, having produced a 2026 calendar for sale locally and they also make greeting cards.

Challenge commences soon

The 52/52 Challenge will commence soon, with the first submissions due by midnight on Saturday 22nd November.

For the first time ever, a 26/26 Challenge will run alongside the 52/52

The 26/26 Challenge will finish at the 26-week mark, offering a shorter option for those who feel 52 weeks is too much.

Flexibility: Participants may begin with the 26/26 Challenge and switch to the 52/52 Challenge within the first six weeks if they decide to go the full distance. Conversely, participants who start with the 52/52 Challenge may opt out within the first six weeks and complete the 26/26 Challenge instead. In either case, they should notify any committee member.

Entry fee: €5 for either challenge and due at the next Club meeting.

All entry fees will form the prize fund, and the club will match the total amount, doubling the final prize for the winners.

Theme:

You may submit images on any topic throughout the challenge, or choose a specific theme each week.

Submissions:

A Flickr Group will be made available in the days leading up to the first submission deadline. (Shared on club WhatsApp group soon!)

Any image submitted must be taken between Saturdays and not from your archive.

Update on 11/11/25 Meeting

Summary of Tonight’s Meeting

We began last night’s meeting with a talk on flash photography by one of our members, Michael Reynolds.
Michael covered topics including the use and understanding of flash in both indoor and outdoor settings.
It was a detailed and insightful discussion that encouraged questions and demonstrations for both beginner and advanced members.

It’s great to see members engaging in these talks, and we hope this continues as good practice for future guest speakers.

We also discussed several new ideas brought forward by the newly elected committee, including more field trips, exhibitions, and competitions — all aimed at elevating the club as we move into the new year.

We also had the presentation of prizes to the winners of the 52/52 challenge.
Displayed image is Garry Fitzgerald accepting his prize from Chairperson Andy Rimmer.
All other winners were absent from last nights meeting, therefore prizes will be handed out accordingly.

Club meet-up at Lough Key Forest Park

Boyle Camera Club members to meet-up at Lough Key Forest Park.
On Saturday 25th of October and Sunday 26th of October at 12pm on both days,
BCC members are asked to meet-up on either day or both if you feel fit to do so at the main building.
Members will need to bring their camera equipment, eg. camera and tripod - and the price of a coffee/tea to shop at the cafe,
The November monthly motivation theme is "Autumn" so there we will split up or in a group walking
around the park snapping every opportunity we get from the autumn season celebrated and spectated.
We do ask the public to be weary if you see a camera pointed in your direction as it may not be the
photographers intension to photograph other people only to capture the autumn season.
P.O.T.Y points will be awarded to anyone in attendance and this will add to your score come the end of the year.
This maybe the Club's last outing of the year so a message to members is for you not to miss out, and
come along for the chat and banter.
For the anyone that knows Lough Key Forest Park this should be an enjoyable bank holiday weekend.

For any members using the WhatsApp Boyle Camera Club group chat do send a message if you have any concerns.
