Boyle Camera Club - AGM 2008

There was a great turn out for the October meeting of Boyle Camera Club, which also included the club’s first AGM. The evening was held in the upstairs room of the Moving Stairs in Boyle and included a finger buffet, with delicious fare supplied by chef Marek and his team.

The agenda included the regular Motivation and Photo-Shoot slideshows, prepared by Ben.

The results of this months Motivation, Abstract & Pattern, are available HERE. This month sees the beginning of a NEW League and members should ensure that they attach their NEW MEMBERSHIP NUMBER with entries henceforth. There has been some suggestions regarding amendments to the current rules - these will be formally addressed at the next committee meeting and passed on to members.
The Motivation Theme for November is; AUTUMN LIGHT. Members may get inspiration from viewing some of the splendid images in the sites below.
Autumn Light 1.
Autumn Light 2.

Submissions for the November Motivation to info@boylecameraclub.com before Friday 7th November.

Tony gave a presentation titled PHOTO MAKE-OVER. A number of members photos were selected from the club's Flickr Pool and brought to the Digital Darkroom for processing. Tony demonstrated how simple snapshots can be transformed to reach their full visual potential with some basic image editing skills. Tony's Make-Over slide shows are available below:
Make-Over 1, Make-Over 2, Make-Over 3 and Make-Over 4.

The club has recently invested in a portable Studio Lighting Kit ( Elinchrome D-Lite 2 ) and Tony introduced this at the meeting. Members are encouraged to avail of this club resource via a booking system which will be determined by the NEW club committee at its next meeting.

The AGM followed the business of the October meeting with Presentations from the Chairperson, Sean O'Dowd and other out-going Committee Members. The NEW Committee were subsequently proposed and elected. Details are available for review in the minutes from the AGM HERE.

The next meeting of Boyle Camera Club will be WEDNESDAY 12th November. More details regarding venue and time to follow shortly.

I have to say it was a pleasure to attend a meeting where such genuine enthusiasm was displayed not only by the committee but the general body of the club membership. This was my first involvement with the club and I have to say I look forward to spending many more evenings in such enjoyable company. The 3 hours I spent at the meeting went by in a flash (no pun intended). The people I met were both friendly and welcoming. The meeting itself was inclusive, relaxed, interesting and informative. In short a great lack of bull!!!! and a great deal of enthusiasm. I would recommend anyone with a digital camera of any sort to go along to a meeting. If nothing else it will show you that you are not alone and help is at hand. I am sorry I had to run off at the end, I didn’t expect to spend so long at my first meeting. If anything in the above has offended anyone, I apologise, I tend to say it as I see it and I see a great future for the club. Well done.
