Club Meeting - Tuesday 12th April

Membership turned out in force to welcome Galway landscape photographer, Sean Tomkins, for his presentation at this month's club meeting. Sean presented a selection of his award-winning images of the Irish landscape that stretched from the Dingle Peninsula to the coastline of Mayo. His images reflect the mysterious and often unpredictable nature of Irish light and the seemingly endless patterns and colours that paint drama and emotion into his skyscapes.

Motivation
Joe Kennedy presented this month's Motivation Slideshow. The theme was 'Low-light' and images were judged by the discerning eye of Limerick photographer, Hazel Coffey. Hazel's critique was astute and articulate, the results are as follows;

Next month's Motivation Theme is MOVEMENT. Members are asked to submit up to three images to info@boylecameraclub.com on or before Friday 6th May.

April Photo Shoot
Later this month (date to be confirmed), club members will break into groups of Beginners - Intermediate and Advanced for site specific photo shoots. Each group will be accompanied by a committee member and visit a specific location. Details relating to the proposed shoot will be disclosed after the next committee meeting.

IPF Distinctions Group
Conor Dowling met with a group of members intending to go forward for Distinctions this Autumn. Members are currently preparing work for their respective photography panels under Conor's guidance. The group meet from 7 - 8pm before each monthly meeting.

New Members
Each month Boyle Camera Club attracts new member to it's meetings. The committee would like to welcome all recent and new members to the club. Persons interested in attending meetings are welcome to do so, meetings take place on the second Tuesday of each month at 8pm in St. Joseph's Resource Centre, Boyle. Intending members should make themselves known to one of the committee members who will be happy to answer queries about the club. Intending members can attend Two meetings after which point they must formally register.
Registration includes;
  • completing the membership application form.
  • payment of the annual registration fee.
  • selection of Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced category for the purpose of taking part in monthly motivations and group specific workshops.

Other information
  • The IPF National Club Championship takes place this weekend in Athlone. Full details HERE.
  • Annual Weekend Photo Shoot - This year BCC will travel to Inishbofin - Friday 13th to 15th May. The final call for places went out at the meeting as booking had to be promptly confirmed. Anyone not at the meeting should contact info@boylecameraclub immediately to reserve a place. Additional information about the trip will be posted here shortly.
